NAME A SPECIES CONTEST
TO CELEBRATE OUR WATER PLANET
STARTING ON JUNE 1

What: Species Naming Contest for the Bonaire Banded Box Jellyfish

When: Wednesday May 13, 2009 thru Tuesday June 14, 2009

Information: Members of the public can join a scientific team to help give the Bonaire Banded Box Jellyfish (BBBJ) a species name.

This new name will become the official scientific name and appear in several scientific publications. Between May 13 and June 14, the public can learn about the animal and the scientific process of naming species, then submit a potential species name for BBBJ. The scientific team will pick their top 5 favorites, which will then be up for vote by the public June 19 thru 21. The winning name will be announced after June 23rd. All of this takes place at
