The 9th/10th Doctor's Desktop TARDIS setting should be URCHIN not coral!
I can't believe I didn't notice that before! Although weirdo marine animals are great inspirations to the SF realm - remember the Alien? Inspired by an amphipod of some description I believe...
And I'm sure that scarf that Tom Baker used to wear looks like some kind of elongated sea cucumber ...
